Housing Ombudsman Service statement: IT Security Incident latest
3 November 2026
Today’s update is to reassure you that we’re continuing to investigate and we are making progress.
Thank you for your continued patience while we investigate the third-party IT security incident that has impacted our case management system.
As we set out in earlier communications, the incident has been contained, and we are working with the external supplier of our case management system to investigate.
Today’s update is to reassure you that we’re continuing to investigate and we are making progress. The information here on our website is as much detail as we are able provide to at this stage in our investigation.
If you have any concerns about the incident, you can contact our team at incidentenquiries@housing-ombudsman.org.uk. If you have already submitted a query to this email or our Data Protection Officer, we are working through these and will respond to you shortly. There is no need to send another query.
If you need to raise a new complaint about your landlord with us in the meantime, please email us at info@housing-ombudsman.org.uk or call us on 0300 111 3000.
What you can do
While our investigation continues, as a matter of best practice, we recommend you remain vigilant for any unexpected emails, text messages, telephone calls or correspondence requesting personal information or asking you to take urgent action.
Do not click on links or open attachments from unknown sources, and always verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent a trusted organisation before sharing information.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to update you as our investigation progresses.
