Resident Panel activities from 2024-2025

Year 1 programme introduction

A look at the activities you can participate in during your first 12 months on the Housing Ombudsman Resident Panel.

We will keep you informed about additional activities that you can get involved in via email.

Please note dates may change due to external factors or internal priorities. Where there are topics or date changes, we will update you at the earliest opportunity.

May to August 2024

Welcome pack

You will receive a welcome pack which includes:

  • an introduction video from the Housing Ombudsman and Chief Operating Officer 
  • a forward look at panel activities and key topics the Housin Ombudsman will be looking at over the next 12 months 
  • what to expect as a panel member  
  • how we will communicate with the panel 
  • an informative jargon buster to help you understand some of the key phrases we use

Meetings

1st virtual Meet the Ombudsman meeting

The first online meeting will take place on:

18 June 2024, 5pm - 6pm

This is a question and answer sessions where the Ombudsman and  team will answer pre-submitted questions from panel members.  

If you have a question that you would like to ask the Ombudsman at one of these meetings, please complete this form.

Surveys

How can we make the panel work for you?

You will be sent a survey to help us understand your reasons for joining the Housing Ombudsman Resident Panel. We will ask your preference on:

  • meeting times
  • topics of discussion
  • style of communication
  • frequency of communication

Call for evidence and special interest discussions

Spotlight report on contractors

All panel members will be asked to provide evidence to feed into a Spotlight report on contractors. 

A selection of panel members will also be invited to a special interest discussion on this topic. This will be based on the experiences and interests you selected in your application. 

The Ombudsman and anti-social behaviour complaints

To mark anti-social behaviour awareness week in July, a selection of members will be asked to help us produce resident focused guidance on when and how the Ombudsman can help with a complaint about anti-social behaviour.

Selection for this will be based on the experiences and interests you selected in your application.

Access to Information Scheme consultation   

You will be invited to participate in our next Access and Information Scheme consultation. 

September to November 2024

You will be invited to join our quarterly virtual Meet the Ombudsman event.

Housing Ombudsman annual resident survey

As part of our Annual Complaints Review, we ask all panel members about their experiences in complaint handling, from accessing the process in the first place to how you feel your landlord learns from those complaints. 

December to February 2025

Business Plan and Corporate Plan consultation

You will be invited to participate in the consultation for the 2025/26 Business Plan and our Corporate Plan for the next 3 years.  

March to May 2025

This will be based on the experiences and interests you selected in your application.
