Housing Ombudsman publishes social value policy

10 June 2021

Housing Ombudsman is committed to social value principles when we do business with suppliers.

We have recently published our social value policy on our website. In recently months, the government has encouraged the supply market to demonstrate how it supports social value generation such as the creation of new jobs/skills within sectors and stewardship of the environment in how it conducts its business. We recently developed an internal policy that aligns with the Government’s agenda. The scope of our policy enables us to assess suppliers capability to support the social value policy agenda for both under and over OJEU threshold procurements. These aims are tested when suppliers respond to high value government procurements. One of the aims of the newly devised policy is to encourage government buyers to reconsider the way we source suppliers.
