Social value policy

We are committed to social value principles when we do business with suppliers.

The UK Government has, over the past number of months, encouraged the supply market to demonstrate how it supports social value generation such as the creation of new jobs/skills within sectors and stewardship of the environment in how it conducts its business. These aims are tested when suppliers respond to high value government procurements. One of the aims of the newly devised policy is to encourage government buyers to reconsider the way we source suppliers.

The Housing Ombudsman Service, as an Non Departmental body, is very support of these policy aims and recognise that the manner in which we utilise our subscription funding should clearly reflect a desire to work with suppliers who are themselves, socially responsible. We have therefore, developed an internal policy that aligns with the Government’s agenda. The scope of our policy enables us to assess suppliers capability to support the social value policy agenda for both under and over OJEU threshold procurements.

Our policy explains our approach to this.
