Background
- The resident lives in a house and complained to the landlord about multiple outstanding repairs to the property. He wanted the landlord to complete the repairs and provide an audit of all other repairs at the property since 2010. He complained to us, as he was unhappy with the landlord saying there were no outstanding repairs.

- The resident’s request for multiple repairs.
- The resident’s request for an audit of outstanding repairs.
Our decision (determination)
- We have not investigated the resident’s complaints because they are outside our jurisdiction.
Summary of Reasons
- The resident holds a non-secure tenancy in long-term temporary accommodation, which was provided by the council landlord to meet its homeless applicant duties to him under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
- Complaints about the suitability and condition of temporary accommodation provided under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 fall within the jurisdiction of the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO).
- The Housing Ombudsman Scheme states that the Housing Ombudsman may not consider complaints which fall properly within the jurisdiction of another Ombudsman, regulator, or complaint-handling body.
- In this case, we are satisfied that this complaint is about matters relating to the condition of temporary accommodation provided by the council landlord to meet its duties under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996. As it is a complaint about matters that fall within the jurisdiction of another Ombudsman, the LGSCO, this complaint is outside the jurisdiction of the Housing Ombudsman and is not one we can investigate.
